Ever attended training? I believe most of you have, of course.
Ever felt overwhelmed with the new knowledge and insights?
Ever gone back to reality…. and…
Ever forgot ALL of the great stuff?
Want to know how to stop this? Want to know how to make training work by creating your MVA?
Sometimes in life you come to a point where the old stuff just doesn’t work anymore. I will now tell you about such an occasion – and how it helped me into creating a small tool. Small, but yet EXTREMELY effective, should you use it!
I had a training with an extremely skilled team of staff. They performed greatly through the full program. Still, when asked the last day “What will you change?” explicitly “…in your behavior, actions and decisions”? When most people started talking about meetings in the future – what has been the truth for SO long became evident and surfaced right there, before my very eyes. With a tag attached to it: FIX THIS. NOW!!!
Inspired by Eric Ries and the Lean Startup Movement I realised there’s a parallel in management and communications. Where Ries speaks of a “Minimum Viable Product” to have a dialog with prospects, we need an MVA – a Minimum Viable Action!
Or simply put “What is the tiniest, smallest and even EASIEST action you can perform at work? Instantly!?
So, in your next training: Put a small note on a paper or reminder in your smartphone for that sake – My MVA is…….
If you’re in a Management Team, the MVA is attached to any decision made. What smalest action proves to both your own brain and other’s view of you that you really mean what you say, that you truly walk the talk?
